Now that we have a Rainforest in our school we needed some animals! So we worked in pairs to plan how we could make a realistic 3D model of a Rainforest animal. It was very tricky but we managed it in the end. We then hid our Animals around our classroom.  Next to our animals we now have an information sheet telling visitors all about that particular kind of animal. Do you like them? What is your favourite Rainforest animal?

To help our french we organised a french fashion show it was great fun ! – because we got to strut our stuff after we overcame our fears. It was funny because the whole class were wearing funny clothes such as boys wearing dresses whilst the girls wore tu-tus. We loved the french fashion show xx!

The waterfall was made out of paper mache as the rocks , strips of tissue paper as the blue water , cardboard boxes to make it look 3D and bubbles at the bottom.

The waterfall group enjoyed making it because it was a messy job and it was also very fun, it also got us out of work a couple of times but that didnt really matter!

The hardiest part of the waterfall was painting the rocks as it was not easy to get into the cracks and dips and also they were still parts of it that had not dried properly.

The whole class admired the waterfall  as it looked so realistic , they liked it becase it was 3D and it  looked real !

We are still working very hard to transform our classroom into a living rainforest. We have also written our veryown story books about a Secret Forest. You can see them hanging on the wall in our class.

Primary 7 worked together to sort all the harvest offerings brought in by the children of Dunipace into gift parcels  to take out to people in our community. They were very heavy bags, weren’t they P7? And we walked a very long way that afternoon! But it was all worth it to see the smile on each person’s face when we handed them their gift.

We built a tribe hut in our classroom. We had to do a lot of problem solving to decide how we would construct it and it took team work to build it.  What do you think?

We have been using our research skills to find relevant and interesting facts about the Rainforest. Then we have been recording these facts in our own words to create a factfile. Did you learn anything new from our factfiles?

Before the summer holiday each of the classes voted for their favourite name for our new vegetable garden. The winner was Castle Garden!

We planted lots of vegetables and we also planted sunflowers. We did our best to look after them until the school closed for the summer holidays. When we came back 7 weeks later we were absolutely gobsmacked with what we saw. The sunflowers were gigantic – taller than some of us! The vegetables had grown and now need harvested. What a lot of work we’ve now got to get the beds ready for some winter planting.

And we get to taste some of the delicious vegetables!

For the past few weeks, if you have been in our near our classroom, you may have noticed some changes. We have been secretly transforming our classroom into the Amazonian Rainforest. So far we have experimented with lots of art materials to make leaves and draw some Rainforest animals.

We have also been challenged to create some 3D constructions. One group is creating a tribe hut in the corner of the room while another group is creating a waterfall to cascade down a wall in our room. Another group is planning how to create the river Amazon in our room and the fourth group will be constructing some native Rainforest trees.
